Nellorene "Nell" Cormier

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Nellorene "Nell" Treme Cormier will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Ragley, with Father Jeffrey Starkovich officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery, Elton, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Cormier, 92, of Lake Charles, entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Landmark of Lake Charles.
Nell loved family gatherings, especially cooking for them on Sundays. When she was in high school, she enjoyed singing in the church choir, sewing, reading, gardening, baking, and dancing to Cajun music. Even as she lost her eyesight, she adapted with ease; she never complained and accepted God's will gracefully. Everyone she met loved her immediately. She took pride in her Cajun French heritage and consistently ensured that family and friends learned some French vocabulary prior to their departure. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-nine years, Leo Cormier; her parents, Wesley and Idell Treme; and two sisters, Ruby Dupre and Trudy Wilson.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include four sons, Gable Cormier (Thelma) of Gillis, Al Cormier of Ragley, Chris Cormier (Laura) of Ragley, and Ted Cormier (Stacy) of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Beth Finn (Pat) of Hornbeck, and Tina Bertrand (Mike) of Moss Bluff; one sister, Priscilla Treme of Lake Charles; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Kinder, on Wednesday, May 7, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume at Rush Funeral Home, Kinder, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. until time of departure to the church.
