Sally Wallace Obituary

Sally Caviness Wallace, 77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at her residence in Meadville, Miss. She was born June 21, 1948 to Charles and Blanche Caviness of Corinth, Mississippi.

During her years in Corinth, Sally was a Curved Bar (Gold Award) Girl Scout, a member of the intellectually gifted organization of MENSA, and an active member of First United Methodist Church. She graduated from Corinth High School in 1966 and continued her education at Mississippi State College for Women and Blue Mountain University.

She was heavily involved with Camp Lake Stephens, serving as a counselor, and on various boards and committees. Sally worked for many years as counselor and social worker, helping with numerous young children, as well as senior citizens in the Corinth/Alcorn County area. She was an active and devoted member of the United Methodist Church.

She married Larry Wallace in Corinth in July of 1990. They lived in Georgia and various cities in Mississippi while serving in several churches during their 35 years together. Sally had a quick wit, vast knowledge of the world, and a natural ability to make deep connections with people across the state. She loved reading, cooking, music, history, and learning new, interesting things. Her playful nature and quick wit were trademarks that endeared her to family, friends, and even strangers who quickly became friends. She was a loving wife, trusted friend, and loyal colleague.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Wallace and his children Ricky and Amanda; close life-long family friends Robert Lindsey, Judy Strickland and husband Doug Strickland; special surrogate daughters Katie Draper (Mike) and Cindy Brinson (Russ); cousins, Bill Jones (Rilla), Louis Jones (widow of Tommy Jones), and Read Jones (Lee); as well as many friends across the state.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Blanche Caviness; uncle and aunt Leon and Ethel McCullar; and uncles, Herman Jones, and John Jones; and cousin Tommy Jones .

A memorial service was held at Mt Olive Methodist Church in Meadville at 10 a.m. with Rev. Larry Wallace presiding over the service on Thursday, August 21, 2025. A memorial service in her beloved city of Corinth will be held at the Fillmore Street Chapel on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Kim Ratliff officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations or sponsorships to Camp Lake Stephens.
