Salvador M. Hernandez

Salvador (Sal) Marmalejo Hernandez passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 13, 2025, at the age of 76.

He was born on October 16, 1948, to Salvador and Dolores Marmalejo Hernandez in Seguin, Texas. Sal was one of 16 siblings and a father to eight children: five by blood, three by marriage, and all by love. He was a grandfather to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family was everything to him.

Sal's family was everything to him. He often spoke about his childhood on a farm, with his dogs Killer and Dacula, by the San Marcos. It was on that farm where he first learned small engine repair, a skill that would later blossom into a long career as a Master Technician for Hyundai and Subaru vehicles. Salvador was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved fishing, shooting pool at the Warehouse, and music.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 29 years, Guadalupe (Lupe) Sanchez Hernandez; his parents, Dolores and Salvador Hernandez; his brothers Vernardo, Albino, Jesus, Raymondo, and San Juan Hernandez; and his sisters Elida DeLeon and Erminia Magallanez.

Visitation (viewing) and rosary will be held at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, 78745, on Thursday, August 21, 2025.Viewing will be held at 6:00pm with a rosary at 7:00pm.

Mass services will be held the following day at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1206 E. 9th Street, Austin, TX 78702, on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 9:30 am.

A reception will immediately follow church services in the parish hall.

Internment of ashes shall proceed at a later date
