Lupe Duran Anguiano

Lupe Anguiano, 88, of Austin was called to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 14, 2025. Lupe passed away peacefully in her sleep and was cherished by her family and friends. Lupe was born on May 4, 1937, in Austin, the daughter of Guadalupe and Gabriel Duran of Austin. Along with her brothers, Lupe began to work at an early age to help support her immediate family after the passing of her father. Lupe also worked with her husband, John Anguiano, throughout her adulthood to raise her family of six children.

Lupe was married to John for 62 years until his passing in 2021. Lupe met John as a teenager in Creedmoor, Texas, and he was the only love of her life. She missed him dearly after his passing. Lupe was a hard worker and spent most of working career at the grocery retailer known as Safeway Stores (Randalls) of Austin. Lupe had many friends among her colleagues and customers. Lupe also served on the Travis County Appraisal Board and enjoyed her experience serving as a panelist on the Texas grand jury. Along with her husband, Lupe faithfully attended St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church of Austin.

Lupe is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; parents, Guadalupe and Gabriel Duran; brothers, Gabriel Duran, Jr. of Waurika, OK, Ferman Duran of Los Angeles, CA, Narcisso (Cecil) Duran of Austin; sisters, Alice Briones of Los Angeles, CA, and Lucy Polanco of Austin, Texas. She is survived by children, Mary Ann DeLeon of Austin, Margaret Rodriguez (Juan Delgado) of Austin, John Michael Anguiano (Lisa) of Kyle, Deborah McCall (Jim) of Houston, Ellen Reyes (Herman) of Austin, and Mark Anguiano (Arcelia) of Austin; brother, Rudy Duran (Carolyn) of Austin; 13 grandchildren; extended grandchildren; great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pall bearers are Lupe's grandsons, Christopher Trevino, Joseph DeLeon, Matthew Anguiano, Jacob Anguiano, Ross Brock, and Alex Reyes.

Lupe was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was the heart of her family and prioritized her husband and children among all other things. Lupe was steadfast in her Christian beliefs and lovingly served her church as a Eucharistic Minister and in other ministries. Lupe will be missed dearly. The family wishes to thank all those involved in her care. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, 2309 Euclid Avenue, Austin, TX 78704.

Guests are welcome for visitation on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00PM, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00PM, at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX.
