Salvador G. Martinez

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Salvador "Sal" G. Martinez, on February 18, 2022. He was 89 years old, born in Rodey, NM on March 8, 1932 to Librado and Epifania Martinez. Salvador married his beloved wife Adela G. Martinez on October 29, 1950. They had just celebrated 71 years of marriage and were residents of Hatch, NM. They lived to see their 5th generation. Our Dad was loved, and respected by those who knew him.
Our Dad was "Our Family's Superman." He never complained, was a very hard worker, a wonderful family man, and a great provider. He was also a devout Catholic who was very involved with the church. He taught us many good values, morals, and good working ethics. He worked at Farmers Market for 24 years, retired from EBID Irrigation District, owned Sal's Cafe and farmed pecans along with Chile and other produce. He enjoyed the great outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, horseshoes, and playing cards.
Salvador is survived by his 8 children and their spouses, Mary Helen (Cosme) Albidrez, Mary Lou (Richard) Torres, John Martinez (Tammy Tardiff), Rosie (Bob) Pack, Frank (Sylvia) Martinez, Theresa (Frank) Chavez, Diana (Brian) Gardea, and Anthony (Melissa) Martinez. Salvador is also survived by his 25 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and 19 step grandchildren, his siblings Esther Naranjo, Lupe Martinez, Tony Martinez, and many nephews, cousins, and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Adela G. Martinez, their 1-day old daughter, Juanita, his parents, Librado and Epifania Martinez, his sisters Amelia Gutierrez, Cecilia Candelaria, and brothers Alejandro Martinez, and Gilbert Martinez.
Our dad will be cremated, and services are scheduled for Thursday, March 17, 2022, with Holy Rosary at 9:30am, Mass at 10:00am, officiated by Fr. Ivan Torres at Our Lord of Mercy Catholic Church in Hatch, NM. The burial will immediately follow at The Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch, NM.
Our family was blessed to have a father whose life reflected the warmth of God's love.
