Salvatore "Sam" LoVasco, 66, of Haverhill, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 6th, 2025. He was born in Gloucester, the son of the late Antonio P. and Grace M. (Pallazola) LoVasco. Sam was the beloved husband of Amy A. Harrah for nearly twenty years, their anniversary falling on February 25th.
Sam attended Beverly public schools and graduated with the Class of 1977 from the Claude H. Patten Trade School, where he learned the trade of carpentry. He earned an Associate's Degree in Accounting from North Shore Community College and also attended classes at Northeastern University in Boston.
Sam was a hard-working man from the age of 16. He worked for many hospitals over the years, including Beverly Hospital, Lynn Hospital, and Anna Jacques Hospital, among others. He then worked for 22 years as head custodian at the Fuller Meadow School in Middleton, where he was affectionately known by the students as "Mr. Sam" and recently retired in June 2024.
He was always working on a project. In addition to his skills in carpentry and home improvement, Sam was a mechanic at heart and enjoyed working on cars of all kinds, especially his 1962 Chevy C10 pickup truck.
Sam enjoyed the little things in life, whether it was a scenic drive, a good meal, or attending a classic car show. He appreciated spending time outdoors, and took frequent trips up north, especially to southern Maine. Aside from spending time with his family, nothing made Sam happier than swimming, and he would jump right in whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Sam was a friend to all and loved to have fun. He always enjoyed the chance for a long conversation or a good laugh. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, who will forever cherish all of the memories they shared together.
In addition to his wife Amy A. Harrah of Haverhill, he is survived by his son Derek J. LoVasco and his partner Jillian McCarthy of Franklin, brothers David P. LoVasco Sr. of Beverly, Thomas F. LoVasco and his fiancée Mary Corcoran of Beverly, and Michael J. LoVasco of Derry, NH, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Tyler S. LoVasco, as well as brothers Sebastian T. LoVasco and Anthony M. LoVasco.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch Street, Beverly on Thursday, February 20th at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Wednesday, February 19th from 4pm to 7pm. Burial will be private in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, MA.
