It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Salvatore Micalizzi, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished friend who passed on Sunday April 13, 2025, at the age of 88.
Sal was born on May 5, 1936, in Tuckahoe NY, and was a resident of Stratford, CT and retired to Sun City, in Bluffton, SC in 2001.
Sal graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport and proudly served his country in the US Army.
Sal, affectionally known as Sali, worked at Sikorsky aircraft in Stratford, CT and retired at the young age of 58. He enjoyed 30+ years of retirement. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. His laughter was infectious, and his stories will be treasured by all who had the privilege of hearing them. His kind, gentle spirit and humble nature endeared him to all who knew him. He was a true lover of travel and went on numerous cruises with his wife Sandy, friends and family. His true love was being on the beaches in Cancun where he would soak up the sun and always looked for the next trip back to the sandy beaches.
Sal is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Bernardo) with whom he shared 64 beautiful years of marriage. Their union was a testament to enduring love and deep devotion, serving as an inspiration to their family and friends. Sal is survived by his beloved children: Tony Micalizzi and his wife Lisa of Florida, Mike Micalizzi and his wife Alane of Tennessee, and Lisa Palumbo and her husband, Tony of Connecticut. His legacy as a cherished father is one of pure selfless and unconditional love.
Sal leaves behind 6 adoring grandchildren who were his total pride and joy: Angelina Richardson of Georgia, Stephen, and Clarie Micalizzi of Tennessee, Anthony and Jessi Micalizzi of Florida and Anthony Palumbo of Connecticut. He also leaves his brother and sister in law, Tony and Mary Bernardo, of South Carolina who were much-loved, travel companions.
Sal will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live forever in the hearts of those he touched.
