Samantha J. Franz, 34, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at her residence, after an extended hard-fought battle with cancer.

She was born on July 2, 1990, in Decatur, Indiana to Lynn and Patricia (Heimann) Franz. 

Sami was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur.

She graduated from Adams Central High School in 2009. Sami then graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with an Associate’s Degree as a Registered Nurse. 

She loved animals, being outdoors, traveling, winter camping, taking walks, and roller skating. Sami also enjoyed spending time with her nephew and nieces. 

Sami is survived by her parents, Lynn and Patricia Franz of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Michael (Mandy) Franz of Roseville, Minnesota; sister, Kay (Joshua) Perry of Ossian, Indiana; a nephew, Joseph Franz; two nieces, Jessica and Kasey Franz; and her beloved Feline Bestie, Wiggles. 

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Lois (Lehrman) Franz; and her maternal grandparents, Edward and Mary (Braun) Heimann.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana, with Pastor Zachary Oedewaldt officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery. 

Friends and family will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. 

Preferred memorials are to Fair Haven Foundation in Indianapolis, Adams County Cancer Coalition, or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
