Sammie Jo Barclay, daughter of William and Helen Walker Goss, was born July 2, 1941, in Lebanon, Missouri and left the troubles of this world behind to enter her Heavenly home on January 18, 2024, at the age of eighty-two years.
Sammie made a profession of faith in Christ at a young age and lived her life accordingly. At the time of her passing, she had been a longtime member of Southern Heights Christian Church.
Sammie was the epitome of homemaker. The needs of her family came first. However, she also worked outside her home. Sammie was an Elementary School teacher for over thirty years, until her retirement. She taught in Springfield and Richland, but most of her career was spent in the Stoutland School district. She loved her students and they loved her.
Sammie was most content at home one the farm, surrounded by her family. She looked forward to family dinners and cooking for all of them. She was an animal lover and enjoyed the time spent with her pets. However, of all the things Sammie loved about this life, time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren is what she most treasured.
She leaves to celebrate her memory, Neal Barclay of Lebanon and their children, Shannon Barclay and his wife Lisa of Lebanon, MO and Shantelle Posten and her husband Troy of Springfield, MO; four grandchildren, Patrick Posten and his wife Abbee, Samantha Jaramillo and her husband Desi, Madison Allison and her husband Shawn and Hunter Barclay and Kayla Francis; five great-grandchildren, Ru Posten, Sophia, Jaxx and Liam Jaramillo and Rayna Allison; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Those preceding her in death include her parents and one grandson, William Earl "Will" Posten.
Sammie was a staple in the community. She was a lady of dignity and grace. She loved deeply and unconditionally. She taught her family the importance of faith over fear and perseverance in life. She will be greatly missed until we meet again.
Celebration of life visitation for Sammie Barclay will be Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 P.M., at Shadel's Colonial Chapel
Memorials have been suggested in memory of Sammie to Sammie Barclay Scholarship Fund.

As the kindergarten teacher at Stoutland. Always so sweet and soft spoken. She was the most requested teacher. I had the privilege of working as her principal for one year. I have always loved her

Sammie was a precious friend from elementray school, Stoutland, Mo. until time of her passing. She was a big influence in my life. Growing up we liked to ride horses together. Go to each others houses and enjoy walks to see the wild violets in the spring. Special memory was teaching in Springfield, Mo where we had an apartment together for two years before we both got married. Many wonderful memories. I will miss my dear friend. Verla Golston
