Sammy Wayne Graves

Sammy Wayne Graves had a voice like Elvis and the heart of a soldier, and he wasn't the least bit shy about telling you either of these things.
Sam was born in Bakersfield, California on March 17, 1946, to Samuel and Jewell Graves, but he was raised in Oklahoma City for most of his life. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School, but strangely enough, the love of his life, Sandra Lee Graves, attended his rival school. They were married for 57 loving years.
Sam spent a life of service to his country. He spent three years in the Navy, and then joined the Army, where he spent the rest of his military career. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Sam began a new career in law enforcement, becoming a Highway Patrol Dispatcher until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of South Agnew Church of God.
Sam was always quick with a joke or song, and he loved to entertain. He could no doubt light up the room with his charm. He loved his family and friends, and would never hesitate to drop everything if you needed him. Sam was a loving husband and father, and he will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Jewell, and his brother, Mike. Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Sandra; his children, daughter Shelly Kelley and husband Hal, sons Sean Graves and wife Carol, Steven Graves, and Scott Graves and wife Sara; one sister, Delores Ardizzone, and three brothers, Karl Heid, Wilson Graves, and Thomas Graves; along with four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3:00pm through 6:00pm on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at the LynLee Mae Chapel, located at 507 East Main Moore, Oklahoma.
Services for Sam will begin at 10:00am on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the Lynlee Mae Chapel, located at 507 E. Main Street in Moore.
