Rutland - Samson Darst, 73, of Rutland, died Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Born October 23, 1952, in Pomeroy, Ohio, he was the son of the late Carroll and Bonita Keller Darst. Sampson graduated from Meigs High School, enjoyed cooking and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a residential and commercial drywall contractor in the Columbus area and later retired from Modern Sanitation. He was quiet man with a big heart and he would offer a helping hand to all. Samson will live on because he was an organ donor.
Samson is survived by one sister, Delilah Cox; one brother, Danny (Sherri) Darst; an uncle and aunt, David (Donna) Keller and three nephews and two nieces.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Darst; grandmother, Gertrude Stivers and his step-son, Tommy Buckley.
Samson’s wishes were that there be no public services. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Ohio.
