Samuel Algee Obituary
Samuel (Sammy) was born in Dyersburg, TN on July 20th, 1933, to Ted Algee and Rebecca Wynn Algee, and attended The Webb School in Bell Buckle, TN. He graduated from Tiptonville High in 1951. Sammy spent his early years working with his brother Teddy on the family farm, raising cotton and soybeans.
Sammy was a generous spirit; he was a life-long farmer, duck hunter enthusiast, and was known for his love of dogs and training them. He served as a member of both the American Kennel Club and Ducks Unlimited for many years. He was also a member of Tiptonville Church of Christ.
Sammy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clare Makin Algee; his brother, Ted Algee; and his sister Carolyn Wright Algee Harrison. He is survived by his nephew Brad (wife Sarah) of Clinton, TN; niece, Mary of Tiptonville; nephew, Tom of Obion County TN; niece, Katherine of Tiptonville; nephew, Ben Harrison (wife Loretta) of Texas; great nephews, Jeremy (wife Michelle) and Christopher (wife Valerie) Makin (of Telford TN and Obion County, respectively), great-niece Katie Beth Makin (Andrew Fisher) of Tiptonville, great nephew TC Makin (Carson Morrow) of Obion County; great-niece, Molly Dale Slemp (Matthew Kiess); great nephew, Will Slemp (wife Erika); his cousin, Ed Sumara of Wynnburg, TN; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Sammy Algee will be held on on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at the Tiptonville Church of Christ.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Tiptonville Church of Christ.
