Samuel Bailey Jr.

Samuel D. Bailey Jr., age 54 of Marceline, died Sunday, August 6, 2023 at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. Sam was born in Harrisonville, Missouri on October 16, 1968 to Sam and Mary (Love) Bailey.
Sam entered the Military service in the US Army Corps of Engineers at Middleton, Iowa during high school. Once graduated, Sam joined the US Navy and trained at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as a Corpsman and served in the Naval Hospital at Charleston, North Carolina before being assigned to the Marines in Okinawa, Japan. After being discharged, he worked for BNSF Railway and Walsworth Publishing in Marceline at the time of his death. He graduated from Central Lee High School in Argyle, Iowa in 1987.
Sam is survived by his father and stepmother, Sam and Pam Bailey of Marceline, two daughters, Samantha and husband Matt Medley and their children, Gage Dean Medley, Baylee Rae Medley, Colt James Medley and Paislee Jo Medley, all of Raymore, and Tatiyanna Bailey and Jesse Gauthier and their daughter, Mary Rose Gauthier, of Marceline, brother Charles Bailey and niece and nephew Ailia, Calvin and Callum of Kansas City, MO stepbrother David Sydes of Richlands, North Carolina, stepsisters, Amanda Zingarelli, Columbia, MO and Dana Johnson of Kansas City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Jo Bailey.
Per Sam's wishes there will be no service but rather a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 5-7 PM at the Marceline Eagles Lodge.
