Samuel Biley Sr.

On June 1, 1936, in Sherrill, AR, the late John Henry and Alice Biley brought into this world a bouncing baby boy, Samuel Biley, Sr. He departed this life on June 25, 2024 at the Blossoms Nursing Home in Whitehall, AR.
Samuel was well known and was nicknamed "Sammy". He was baptized at an early age at Marzell Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. Silas Easterling. He faithfully served as a Deacon until failing of his health.
Sammy received his formal education at the Samuel Vaster School District in Moscow, AR. He launched his professional journey at Oak Flooring Company where his primary task was removing knots from lumber. Later, he handled molten steel at Billy Fountain Company. Following this, Sammy engaged in the construction business at Bennie Hatcher Construction Company. Eventually through divine blessings, he perfected his skill as a concrete finisher. He dedicated himself to this trade for over thirty years as a self-employed concrete finisher, thus becoming founder of "Biley and Sons Concrete". His entire family including the daughters and grandchildren worked in the family business. He was very instrumental in the pouring of the concrete for the Cola-Cola Bottling Company in Ouachita County. Although the work was hard and demanding, he firmly believed "when you loved what you do, it's not work at all." As a result of his unwavering commitment and passion for his profession and his faith in God, he earned the reputation of being one of the outstanding concrete finisher in AR.
He was preceded in death by his beloved and devoted wife and son, Vanilla Biley and Erick Regan Biley; five sisters: Bernice Battles, Pearline Biley, Lucinda Biley, Bessie Biley and Essielene Biley; three brothers: John Wesley Biley, James Biley, and Amos Biley.
His survivors include four loving daughters: Karen Biley Hansen, Florissant, MO, Tracie (Ken) Gatewood, Pine Bluff, AR, Margaret (Joseph) Jones, Lee Summit, MO, & Kimberly Biley, Elizabethtown, KY; five sons: Samuel (Rose) Biley Jr. Magnolia, AR, Michael (Leah) Biley, West Monroe, LA, DeWayne (Janice) Biley, Bossier City, LA, Stacy Biley, Rock Springs, WY, & Kenneth (Bobbie Joe) Biley, Houston, TX; two sisters: Mamie Huffman and Ruby Shankle both of Los Angeles, CA, twenty-seven grandchildren & twenty-six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00-6:00p.m., at Brown Funeral Home, Sunday, June 30, 2024. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home Pine Bluff, AR. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery Pine Bluff, AR. Services entrusted to Brown Funeral Home Pine Bluff, AR. His body will lie in-state at 9:15 a.m., until service time.
