Samuel Emmett “Buddy” Bishop, III, age 74, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024.
A lifelong resident of Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late Sam and Sue Bishop.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Jeanette Cohn Bishop; daughter, Amy J. Doucette and husband, Jason T. Doucette; daughter, Stephanie E. Bishop and husband, Chris Waugaman; son, Samuel E. Bishop IV and wife, Bobbie S. Bishop; grandkids, Colten J. Buckley, Haven J. Buckley, Riley S. Doucette, Harper E. Doucette, Willow T. Doucette, Brendon T. Bishop, Chase J. Bishop, and Ashton B. Bishop; great-grandchild, Wesley D. Bishop.
Samuel served in the Virginia Army National Guard from 1970 to1976 and worked for his father at Dinwiddie Motor Company. He then started his own business, Dinwiddie Auto Sales, in 1982, and loved selling cars and helping people for 50 years. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the beach and riding his bike and ending the night by taking Jeanette dancing! He loved telling the green eyed story to his children and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22. 2024 at Community Christian Fellowship, 1221 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Asbury Memorial Cemetery, McKenney, VA.
Arrangements are by Williams Funeral Home & Crematory of Lawrenceville, VA.
