Samuel "Sam" J. Bodrie, age 62, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 at his home after battling cancer. He was born December 23, 1960 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Alfred L. & Grace M. (Summers) Bodrie II. Sam attended Pinconning High School, where he met Renee (Haskins) on the bus in the fall of 1977. Sam & Renee married on October 20,1978, celebrating 45 years of marriage, two daughters and four grandchildren. He worked at his brother's company, Bodrie Trenching for 13 years and later started working for Werner Enterprise for almost 34 years. In 2019, Sam achieved a 3 million accident-free miles award. During his 33 years of employment with Werner he trained 17 students.
He loved spending time in his workshop & garage making/fixing things, doing home improvement, landscaping & gardening projects, cooking up some new recipe that he found or thought of, grilling, putting together/solving puzzles, finding deals through auctions or sales. Sam took 1 st place at the 1988 Whittemore Speedway, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, ice fishing, hunting, flying remote control airplanes, spending time out on the boat, camping, holidays, helping people & making them laugh. He also really enjoyed spending time with his two youngest brothers, Rob & George, his family, friends, & fur babies.
Sam is survived by his wife Renee, daughters; Melissa & Bridget Bodrie, grandchildren; Alyssa, Cameron, and Trevor, his siblings; Alfred (Dawn Kershner) Bodrie, Annlee (Gerry) Greyerbiehl, Judy (John) Krzysik, Jeannine (LeRoy) Atwater, Ed Dittenber, Bruce (Linda) Bodrie, George Bodrie, Robert Bodrie, Kellie Bodrie, and dear friends Donald (Denise) Hartwick.
He was preceded in death by his sister Janice Dittenber, sister-in-law Helen Bodrie, granddaughter Brianna Bodrie, father-in-law Richard Haskins, mother-in-law Norma, nephew Scott Atwater, and dear friend Peter Bentley.
The family would like to extend a "Thank you" to the Hospice Angels Compassus Living Foundation.
A Celebration of life will be held May 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Pinconning Township Hall 1751 E. Cody Estey Rd Pinconning, Michigan. Honoring Sam's wishes cremation has taken place, a private graveside service will be held where he will be laid to rest at St. Michael's Cemetery at a later date.
