Samuel L. Drake, 77, of Clayton, passed away on July 11, 2024. He was born on August 27, 1946 in Sullivan, IN to the late Floyd and Lorena (Schuster) Drake. He graduated from Van Buren High School in Brazil and later received an Associates Degree from Ivy Tech in Terre Haute. He later attended Purdue University. Samuel worked as a scada technician at Duke Energy for 42 years before retiring in 2012. After retirement, he and his son Shane owned Drake's Lawncare and Landscaping from 1999 to 2016. Samuel regularly attended Our Shepherd Lutheran Church with his wife, Sharlin. He enjoyed going to car shows and wood working. Samuel was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Drake. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharlin (Klintworth) Drake; sons, Shane Drake, Bryan (Heather) Drake, John Drake; brothers, James Drake, Robert (Marsha) Drake, and Daniel Drake. Funeral services will be at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 pm until service time at 7:00 pm. Inurnment will be at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
