Peggy Freeman Obituary

Peggy Lee Freeman, 93, passed from this life on March 5, 2026, in Pearland, Texas. She was a devoted wife, a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life was a testament to grace, loyalty, and the beauty found in a life well lived.

Born on November 27, 1932, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Peggy grew up with the love of family woven into her very soul. On November 4, 1950, she married her first husband Roy Crouch. They built a life that took them across the South and into Texas. In 1960, the family made their home in Ruston, Louisiana, where Peggy worked as a secretary at TL James.

The family later settled in Nederland, Texas. She was a devoted presence in her church, an engaged and loving mother to her two sons, David and Larry, and a vibrant member of her community.

In 1967, the family moved to Deer Park, Texas, where Peggy embarked on a distinguished professional career at Solvay Polymers. Through dedication, she rose to the position of Office Manager — earning the deep respect of her colleagues and leaving a lasting mark on every team she led.

Later in life, Peggy and her second husband, Dale Freeman, made their home in Plainfield, Indiana where she quickly became a beloved part of her community and church family. Peggy and Dale shared a love of travel and adventure, spending many happy miles together exploring the country in their RV. Through the years they joined several RV travel groups, making lasting friendships as they journeyed across the United States.

Peggy was a devoted member of Plainfield Christian Church, where her faith and servant’s heart were evident in all she did. She was especially active in the Golden Glow Ministry, helping plan and participate in gatherings, activities, and travel opportunities that enriched the lives of fellow seniors. Peggy also served on numerous mission trips both across the United States and overseas, and she faithfully supported missionaries through her generosity and prayers.

For many years, Peggy worked part-time on staff at the church, serving in the Kitchen Outreach ministry. She joyfully helped prepare meals and coordinate events for church gatherings and sharing her gift of hospitality. That same love of hosting extended into her home, where she delighted in welcoming family and friends for meals, celebrations, and time together.

Later, Peggy moved from her home in the Saratoga area of Plainfield to Cumberland Trace Senior Living, where she continued to stay active in Bible studies and community activities. No matter where she lived or served, Peggy had a special way of making people feel at home. She was often the first to welcome a newcomer, offering her warm smile, gentle kindness, and unmistakable Southern charm. Peggy’s sweet and loving spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

With a desire to be close to her sons David & Larry, Peggy decided to move back to Texas in September of 2024, residing first in The Shore at Clear Lake and later at Lakehouse on Dixie in Pearland, Texas.

A Legacy That Lives On

Peggy leaves behind a life story rich with love, laughter, and lasting impact. She is survived her sons, David and Larry, along with all those whose lives were touched by her warmth and generosity of spirit. Peggy was especially blessed with her second family – that of her husband Dale Freeman and his children, Michael, Randall, Susan, David, LuAnne, and Robert. She was also blessed with many grandchildren and great children.

Those who knew Peggy knew a woman who gave everything to her family and community — who showed up, worked hard, loved fiercely, and held fast to her faith. She was, in every sense, a remarkable woman. Her memory will be cherished by all who were blessed to know her.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future."
