Samuel (Sam) Salvatore Guido, 89, of Muhlenberg Township, went home to be with his Heavenly Father to hear "Well done good and faithful servant" on Saturday, January 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Sam was the son of the late Louis and Josephine (Pregonizzato) Guido. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sally (Stover). Sam was a man of deep faith and loved Jesus Christ with an open and receiving heart. He was faithful in his Bible study and would share his thoughts about all God had done for him in his life with everyone he met. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was employed in Reading for many years in the roofing industry, and volunteered to help anyone in need. He was also a tremendous cook and loved sharing his food with his family and friends. He is most fondly remembered as a man who demonstrated infinite love and generosity to his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Sam is also survived by his son, Kevin Guido, Parkesburg, PA and daughter, Cindy Hitchens (Walt) Reading, with whom he resided. Four grandchildren: Alex Esterly (Jess), Muhlenberg Twp; Ian Guido (Heidi), Barto, PA; Shannon Guido, Boyertown; Jordan Guido (Kelly), Douglassville. Also six great-grandchildren: Uriah, Iyla, Beniah, Asa, Izzy and Vada. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Sam will be sadly missed by his devoted dog, "Hank." In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his siblings: George Tallierchio, Filomena (Tallierchio) Schein, Santina (Guido) Bruckart, Sandy L. Guido, Josephine (Guido) Fasig, Rose (Guido) Chambers, Orlando Guido, Antonio Guido. The John P. Feeney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A viewing/service will be held at the John P. Feeney Funeral Home 625 North 4th St. Reading, on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 11 AM-1PM, followed by internment at Charles Evans Cemetery. A special thank you to Meredith Henry of Heartland Hospice for caring for Sam and staying with our family as we navigated this emotional time. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in his name to Veterans Making a Difference 2412 Spring Street, West Lawn, PA 19609 or to Wounded Warrior Project.org.
Arrangements entrusted to John P. Feeney Funeral Home, Inc. 625 N. 4th Street at Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601, 610-372-4160. Obituary and condolences at www.johnpfeeney.com.

Just a few months back he was out with his daughter Cindy and they stopped by to visit. We sat on my front porch talking about anything Italian...especially food!! I also enjoyed watching him play with my Bichon Frise Lexi and she enjoyed him too. But the look of love between father and daughter was my most precious memory. They adored one another. I also want to send my condolences to Sally first , all the children, grandchildren, the whole extended family. He will be missed. You have a lifetime of great memories now and I hope they find some comfort for all of you in the saddest of times. Sincerely, Kim Black
