Dennis Guido Obituary

Dennis S. Guido, 82, of 390 South Kersey Road, Kersey, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Penn Highlands DuBois.

He was born December 26, 1942, in Tyler, PA, son of the late Ralph and Rose Marie Giardino Guido. He was a graduate of Huston Township High School, a retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Company, and a long-time bus driver with Anthony Muccio School Transportation.

On September 27, 1969, in the St. Boniface Church, Denny married Kathryn Luchini, who survives.

He is also survived by his daughter, Laura Guido of Grove City, OH, his son, Mike Guido (Annie) and his grandson, Thomas John Guido, of Kersey; his sister, Kathleen Lobb (John) of Penfield, and many close relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Denny was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Guido, and his nephew, Shawn Guido.

He was a member of the St. Boniface Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister and usher for many years.

Denny loved many things: his family, his friends, his garden, making his (locally) famous hot sausage, Elk County, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Elk County Catholic High School sports. But what might have brought him the most happiness was being a school bus driver for more than 43 years. What started out as a job turned into one of his greatest joys. Whether it was his morning or afternoon school runs or driving the ECC football, basketball, or cheerleading teams, he took great pride in his job, loved to tell stories about the kids on his bus, and greatly valued the relationships he made. He wasn't one for the spotlight, but the recognition ECC gave him last year for his years of service meant more to him than he could have ever said. He might not be behind the wheel this year, but there is no doubt he will be routing for the players and coaches from afar.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Christopher Beran, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 371 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15846 on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5 until 7 p.m.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Elk County Catholic School System, Advancement Office, 600 Maurus Street, St. Marys, PA 15857.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Online condolences may be offered at www.lynch-radkowski.com

Yesterday

Dennis, Karen and I were best friends growing up in Tyler,Pa. We did everything together--ice skating on the pond, roller skating in basement of church, biking, swimming, sledding or just playing baseball on Tyler school yard.
Even after I moved to Niagara Falls Dennis and I kept in touch and talked on the phone reminiscing about the good old days.
Dennis and Kathy treated my husband Joe and me to a wonderful dinner at their home many years ago and treated us like royalty.
He will be always in my prayers and never forgotten.
God bless all of his family and may Dennis rest in God's peace.
