Samuel "Sam" Keel, age 91, of Ringgold, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Sam was a longtime resident of Ringgold and retired from McKee Bakery after 29 years and seven months of dedicated service, faithfully working the third shift. He was a devoted member of Parkway Baptist Church for many years, where his life reflected his deep and abiding faith.
Sam loved his family dearly and had a genuine heart for people. He lived his life as if he were truly the hands and feet of Jesus-always forgiving, always loving, and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His home was a safe haven, a place where people felt welcomed, cared for, and loved.
In his younger years, Sam learned how to cook cornbread from his mother, a skill he carried with pride throughout his life. He enjoyed cooking and canning, as well as sitting on his front porch swing, listening to Southern gospel and bluegrass music. Sam found joy in rabbit and squirrel hunting and he was a very good with his sling shot.
Sam's life was a testament to quiet strength, unwavering faith, and unconditional love. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Sam was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Winnie Keel; his parents, Clarence and Jaley Keel; his sisters, Betty Townsend and Ruby Goff; and his brothers, John Keel, Alvurs Keel, Lee Keel, Clarence Keel, Columbus Keel, and Newell Keel.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, C.B. and Jan Keel, along with several generations of nieces and nephews who truly adored him and will forever cherish his love, kindness, and example of faith.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Southern Oaks Assisted Living for their love and care and making Sam feel welcome. Also, a special thank you to Guiding Grace in caring for Sam in his final days especially Hospice Nurses, Ondrea and Allison.
