Samuel "Jr" Jasper Spring Jr., 63, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025, peacefully at home. He was born October 28, 1961 in Moline, IL in Rock Island County, the son of Samuel Jasper and Joyce Elaine (Caldwell) Spring. He graduated from Alexis High School in Alexis, IL in 1979. He married Delores "Dee" Ann Rader on July 6, 1985.
Jr. worked over 40 years as a hog farmer and as a maintenance lead for Phelps Pet Products. He was a farmer by trade and teacher at heart. He spent his life working hard and pouring wisdom into his children and grandchildren. Whether it was lessons learned on the farm or stories shared over the years, he left an imprint that won't be forgotten. He was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife as they went sky diving, zip lining, parasailing, motorcycle rides, going on cruises. For the last 15 years he's especially enjoyed riding his Harley with family and friends. He found peace behind the handlebars. In his final days he made the most important decision of his life - he gave his heart to Christ. His family takes comfort in knowing he found peace in his faith. To those who knew him, he was a force. He seemed too strong, too present, and too vital to ever be gone. While he will be so very missed, knowing he is reunited with his wife is a blessing.
Jr is survived by his sons, Dustin Retherford of Joy, and Nickolas (Kira) Spring of Winnebago; daughters, Stephanie (Mike) Baney of Winnebago, and Samantha (Bryan) White of Winnebago; fifteen grandchildren, Nathaniel Cowman, Dillon Harris, Ally Baney, Corbin Baney, Jenna Baney, David Retherford, Jacob Retherford, Zander Spring-Thornton, Izabel Spring-Thornton, Cooper White, Kendrick White, Samuel White, Abiageal Jones, Jasper Spring, Grayson Spring; brother, Chris (Lynne) Spring; sisters, Pam (Stuart) Bjorgan, Sally (Wade) Ankesheiln, and Michele Spring; sister-in-law, Diana Rader; several nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his wife; his parents; and brothers, Randy (Nancy) Spring and Byron Spring.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Genandt Chapel, 602 North Elida Street,
