Sandra Britton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Swartz-Givnish Funeral Home, Inc. on May 16, 2024.
Sandra May (Herwig) Britton of Newtown went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on May 13, 2024. Sandra was born in Abington to the late Clarence and Helen (Mushler) Herwig. Beloved wife of Roy D. Britton. Loving mother of Doug and his wife Heather, Curtis and his wife Ginger. Grandmother of Douglas, Calleigh, Jamie, and Emberlyn. Dear sister of Ronald C. Herwig and his late wife Linda. She will also be missed by her extended family and many nieces and nephews.
Sandra was an honors graduate of Lower Moreland high school, class of 1963. After graduation, she began working full time at Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia, as a medical records librarian through the spring of 1978. To say Sandra was a devoted mother and wife would be an understatement. She dedicated her life to serving her family and others. She loved cooking, planning, and entertaining. If she wasn't in the kitchen, you could probably find her performing her other favorite pastime, vacuuming. She also loved to be outside weeding, watering, and planting flowers. She loved going out to eat or meeting friends for games or cards. Sandra also loved getting away to her second home in Shunk, Pennsylvania as well as taking family vacations. Sandra was a fierce prayer warrior for her friends and family. In October of 2023, Sandra celebrated 50 years of marriage to her beloved. Upon moving to Newtown, she began attending Grace Point Church and became a member where she continued to remain active for 38 years. Sandra will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She is finally at peace, resting in the arms of her Savior who welcomed her with a resounding, "Well done, good and faithful servant".
Relatives and friends are invited to Sandra's Visitation on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Grace Point Church, 592 Washington Crossing Rd. Newtown, PA 18940. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will take place after at Newtown Cemetery. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Point Youth Ministry's Fund at www.gracepointpa.ccbchurch.com/goto/giving/public

Mrs. Britton became a quick more than Family Friend. My parents, my husband and I met with both Mr. and Mrs. Britton many nights for dinner. She always had a smile, a wink and would love to gossip with my mom and laugh with my Dad. She invited us to their home many times for the holidays and served everything home made and in beautiful matching dishes. I will always remember her kindness and her beautiful smile. Prayers to her family and love to them always.

Miss Sandy, along with Miss Carolyn, was my first Sunday School teacher at Byberry Baptist Chapel. This was the nursery class (I am now 61). Upon graduation to the primary class I received a story book from them and I still have it to this day.
Whenever I would see Sandy or bump into her she was always smiling! I just loved her smile! She will be missed by many! My condolences to the family!
