Robert Stabinsky Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Swartz-Givnish Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 28, 2026.
Robert M. Stabinsky or "just 'Bob'," of Newtown, PA, passed away on January 22, 2026, after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He died at the young and tender age of 73, but he had packed his life full of professional and personal accomplishments. A self-trained engineer, he began his career as a technician at AeroChem, moved to Princeton Plasma Physics lab (PPL), took leadership roles at Universal Silicon and Solarex, and finished as the CEO of a material science and manufacturing company, Innovative Systems Engineering (ISE). Along the way, Bob designed and built the first profitable solar cell manufacturing line in the U.S., held the record for producing the highest purity silicon, and produced the first versions of coating manufacturing equipment critical to much of modern technology – from heart stents to fighter jets. An avid audiophile, oenophile, traveler, investor, all-around handyman, technocrat, and armchair political commentator, Bob lived life vibrantly, gregariously, and without apology. Bob loved big parties, especially Taco Parties, but Bob's most cherished accomplishment was building a large and loving family.

Bob was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, attended Morrisville High School (Class of 1970) and is survived by his adoring wife, Lauren; his doting children, Danielle Elwell (daughter), Bryan Elwell (son-in-law), Nicholas Stabinsky (son), and Venera Stabinsky (daughter-in-law); his incredible grandchildren, Evelin, Mirabella, and Gregory; his wonderful siblings Victoria (sister) and Joseph Hunzer, Elaine (sister) and Joseph Everding, John Altoe (brother); and favorite nephew, Micheal Brown, and his children, Matthew and Tyler. Bob was predeceased by Mary Stabinsky (mother), Chester Stabinsky (stepfather), John Altoe (father), and Dolores Stabinsky Brown (sister).

Bob inspired the people and the world around him. He believed in leaving things better than he found them, and we all believe he did just that.

Bob's Viewing will be from 10:00AM-12:00PM on February 7th, 2026, at Swartz-Givinish Funeral Home at 323 Washington Ave, Newtown, PA 18940. All who loved Bob are welcome.
