Sandra Mundy Caldwell, born on April 9, 1962, in
Norfolk, Virginia, passed away on December 26, 2025, in
Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 63. Her remarkable journey through life was characterized by her warmth, vivacity, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Sandra spent her 24-year career as a Teacher's Assistant for special needs children within Virginia Beach Public Schools. She found immense joy and fulfillment in working with these extraordinary kids, and they, in turn, were inspired by her kindness and patience. Her work was not just a job but a calling that resonated with her generous spirit and compassionate nature.
In addition to her professional life, Sandra had a profound love for nature, particularly when it came to planting and nurturing flowers. Gardening was a testament to her care and attention, blooming with vibrant colors that mirrored her own lively personality. A true social butterfly, Sandra thrived on meeting new people and bringing joy to every gathering. She was often the life of the party, known for her outgoing and outspoken demeanor that drew people in and made them feel welcome.
One of Sandra's greatest passions was traveling, especially taking cruises to the Caribbean, her favorite destination. The beauty of the sea and the adventure of travel fueled her zest for life and her desire to explore new horizons.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Amos and Ella Rosetta Mundy, as well as her brother Jeffrey and sister Patricia. She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her devoted husband Glenn; her beloved children Kurtis (Krystle), Steven (Erin), and Jesse; her brother James (Sandy); and her cherished granddaughter Siobhan.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3rd at 4:30 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home- Southside Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 6:30 PM.
Sandra's legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will continue to inspire everyone who knew her. She lived her life with an open heart and a joyful spirit, leaving behind a world made brighter by her presence.
