Robert "Bob" Chapman, Sr.

October 21, 1939 - March 9, 2026

Robert "Bob" Chapman, Sr. 86, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on March 9, 2026.

Bob was born on October 21, 1939, in Richmond, Virginia, to Granville and Dorothy Batten Chapman. On June 1, 1963, he married the love of his life, JoAnn Dobb, in Richmond, Virginia. Together they shared a beautiful and devoted marriage for 62 years, building a life centered on love, family, and kindness.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn Chapman; his son, Robert E. Chapman, Jr.; his daughter, Kimberly Chapman Beamon and her husband Andy; and his cherished grandsons, Thomas, William, and Charles Beamon.

Bob dedicated 41 years to the banking industry. He began his career with Virginia Trust Company and continued through many mergers, ultimately retiring from Bank of America. He truly loved his work and the relationships he built throughout his long career.

Outside of work, Bob's greatest joy was his family. He rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandsons' activities and events, always cheering them on and sharing in their accomplishments. Known for his generous spirit, Bob was always ready to lend a helping hand, often taking on handyman projects around the house or helping others with whatever they needed.

Bob lived life with warmth and positivity and had a special way of making people smile. His kindness, humor, and willingness to help others made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but the love and memories he shared will remain in their hearts forever.
