Sandra Lynn Colberg Maiorana (1960–2025)
Sandra Lynn Colberg Maiorana, 65, of Front Royal, Virginia, died in Winchester, Virginia on July 26th, 2025.
She was born in Fauquier County, Virginia in 1960 to Betty and Theodore Colberg, who shared their love of animals with her. She attended Fauquier High School before going to work at Little Pals, her mother's pet store in Warrenton, Virginia.
Sandy married the love of her life, Sam, on July 19th, 1986. The pair would go on to operate a hybrid wolf sanctuary that same year, pouring their hearts into raising pups together. Sam passed away on June 16th, 2000, at the age of 47.
Throughout her life, Sandy cared for and rehabilitated dozens of animals, some wild, some tame, some with more personality than she knew what to do with. At one point, she cared for as many as 16 hybrid wolves, though none touched her life quite the way that Moose, Shilow, Wolfie, and Lupa did. She held a huge spot in her heart for Bryan, a fluffy Chow Chow mix who passed away in 2023.
In her free time, she loved to set up with friends at the local flea market, carrying on her mother's tradition. She quickly became something of an expert in jewelry and sterling silver, her preferred items to sell.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Maiorana, mother Betty Colberg, father Theodore Colberg, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her brother, Troy Colberg, and her son, Austin Maiorana.
