Sandra Dietrich Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 25, 2024.
Sandra Kay (Montgomery) Dietrich, 67, Chanute, left this earthly world on Monday, June 24, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends after a brief but bravely-fought battle with cancer.
Sandy was born June 12, 1957, in Coffeyville, the youngest child of Robert and Beverly Montgomery. After the family moved to Chanute, Sandy attended school and graduated from Chanute High School in 1975, where she was a cheerleader.
On June 14, 1975, she was united in marriage to Larry Dietrich, who survives at their home. They were blessed with two beloved children, Nathan Alan and Karah Dawn, who have brought them much joy throughout their lives.
Sandy held various jobs over her life including with First National Bank, Hutton Elementary School, Farmers Casualty Insurance, and The Chanute Tribune. She and her sister, Bobbi, also owned and operated Red's Liquor Store for many years, where they made new friends every day and were known for their coordinating Halloween costumes.
Sandy will be remembered for her spitfire, sassy and fun personality, as well as her immense love for her family and friends.
In addition to her husband Larry, Sandy is survived by her children: Nathan (Amanda) Dietrich and Karah Naylor (Justin Short); granddaughters: Kinley and Londyn Dietrich, and Taelyn and Briley Naylor; grandsons: Andrew and Aaron Powell; niece, Karla Haight, and her children, Makayla, Kyle (Abby, Kingsley and Kyson), Raegan and Zerek; daughter-in-law Sara Dietrich and her daughter, Presley; mother-in-law, Naomi Chestnut; sisters-in-law Linda and Cindy; great-niece Israel Munro; her God-daughter, Kylie Warring; and many special cousins and dear friends. Her cat, Lucky, will miss her, too.
She will be met in Heaven by her parents; best friend and sister, Bobbi; brother, Rodney; and nephew, Kevin.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 am, Saturday, June 29, at the Good News Center of First Baptist Church, 118 N Forest, Chanute. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Carlie Almond Scholarship Fund and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Those attending the service are invited to wear purple, Sandy's favorite color.
Countryside Funeral Home, 101 N Highland, Chanute, KS 66720, has been entrusted with her care.
