Sandra L. Donohue, known affectionately as Sandee, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Ellenville Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 83 years old.

Born on September 9, 1940, at the Veteran Hospital in Ellenville, Sandra was the beloved daughter of Donald and Virginia (O'Bryon) Schonger. She grew up in Kerhonkson, graduating from Kerhonkson High School and briefly working as a telephone operator for Bell before embracing her role as a devoted stay-at-home mom and a partner with her husband’s longest running family-owned business in Napanoch

One of Sandra's greatest passions was baking wedding cakes. Her cakes were more than just desserts; they were symbols of joy and celebration shared not only at her children's weddings but within the entire community.

Sandra united in marriage with Bruce Donohue on October 5, 1958, embarking on a lifelong journey filled with love and cherished memories. Together with Bruce, they raised three sons: Bruce (Dina), Paul (Kareen), and Troy (Bertha). Her legacy continued through her adoring grandchildren: Bruce Jr (Raychel), Gillian, Kassandra (Brandon), Paul (Tabetha), Ian, John (Amy), Patricia (Elisa), Isabelle, Leroy and Merrill. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Darrin, Kelsi, Kira, Timothy "TJ", Mia and Cameron and her brother George Schonger (Lois).

Sandra was predeceased by her brother Donald "Red" Schonger.

Throughout her life, Sandra was deeply involved in her community. She dedicated her time and heart to serve as a lifetime member of the Ellenville Rescue Squad, where she held the positions of Captain and Treasurer to name a few. Additionally, she graciously served as an Honorary member of the Napanoch Fire District, contributed to the Ellenville Public Library Board and Ellenville Hospital Board; she was also involved in the Napanoch Youth Commission and volunteered with Hospice. Sandra will forever be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those she loved and her community.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during memorial visiting hours on Saturday, July 27th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Loucks Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Napanoch Fire House.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions honoring Sandra's memory may be made to the Ellenville First Aid and Rescue Squad 1 Webster St., Ellenville, NY 12428 or the Napanoch Fire Department.
