Sandra Ann Hammond, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in her residence. Born on August 14, 1954, in McDowell County, Sandra lived a life full of love, devotion, and care.
For many years, Sandra served as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), demonstrating her unwavering commitment to helping others with compassion and kindness. Her gentle spirit and dedication to her work were evident to all who knew her.
Sandra had a profound love for animals and found joy in the great outdoors. She spent countless hours fishing, relishing the tranquility that nature provided. A voracious reader, she also took pleasure in losing herself in the pages of her favorite books. Family gatherings were especially dear to her heart, making memories with her beloved grandchildren being among her greatest joys.
Sandra is survived by her devoted husband of 26 years, Kenny Hammond; her sons Chris Taylor, Brad Taylor, and Greg Taylor; her stepdaughters Misty Farley and her husband Eric, and Michelle Burleson and her husband Kirk. She also leaves behind her sister Debbie Street and her brother Jackie Hall. Everyone who knew Sandra will remember her as a loving presence in their lives. Also surviving are two nieces Stephanie Evans and husband Terry and Brooke Ishikura and husband Dustin; special friends, Angie and Jim Voltmer and Julie Loftis.
She is the proud grandmother to Rhapsody, Adam, Ara, Brielle, Andrew, Coreena, Rueben, Anthony, Tristan, Hayley, and Mary Jane, in addition to three great-grandchildren and one more on the way. Their lives were enriched by her affection and guidance, and her memory will continue to inspire them.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Alva Maney Hall, who will be lovingly remembered by all who knew them.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Her remarkable life touched many, and she will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she influenced with her unwavering love and kindness.
