Sandra Gail Hoffmeyer Skidmore of Charlotte, NC passed away January 13, 2025 at her residence in Charlotte NC. She was 78 years old.
Sandra, born on October 14, 1947, was the daughter of the late Ben G. G. Hoffmeyer and Norma Faye Sings Hoffmeyer. She was a native of Charlotte and attended local schools and was a graduate of Myers Park high school.
Sandra's goal was to become a professional educator and she earned her undergraduate degree in education in from Peace College.
She completed graduate work, earning her Masters degree in education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Sandra loved children and taught classes to underprivileged youth in the Bronx, NY, NY. She later returned to Charlotte to be closer to her family.
Sandra deeply loved animals and all of nature and the arts, and she was an accomplished artist. Sandra also enjoyed maintaining physical fitness and enjoyed hikes and long walks.
All animals were of interest to Sandra, especially elephants.
She is survived by her younger sister, Cyndi Hoffmeyer Hylton and nephew Chandler Hylton. As well as many cousins, including Sylvia Sings, Angela Sings, Phil Sings, Wayne Jones, and Janet and Andy Jenkins and Matthew Jenkins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday March 9 at The Francis Chapel located at Myers Park Methodist Church in Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations to The Humane Society or the Charlotte Animal Shelter would be lovely tributes to Sandra's memory.
