Benson, NC: Mrs. Sandra Faye Williams Ivey, age 81, of Adams Road passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield with her family by her side. Funeral Services will be held-11:00 AM Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Kim Harris. Burial will follow in Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery in Dudley.
Mrs. Ivey was born on October 9, 1943 in Wayne County to the late Leslie Albert Williams and Nettie Winifred Mozingo Williams. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline Williams Schafer and Rachel Williams Cox and brothers, Leslie Williams, Joe Williams, Coleman Williams, Albert Junior Williams, Arnold Williams, Jay Williams, and Maurice Williams. Prior to retirement, she worked at Alcatel and went on to make people smile as a greeter at Walmart. She was a compassionate person with a giving spirit and never turned away anyone in need often saying, “What’s one more?” She loved to sew and craft, loved gardening, and loved racecar driving as one of the first female “Powderpuff” drivers at Wake County Speedway. She was a charter member at Prayer Baptist Church in Benson and her church family was very important to her. She will be missed by all that knew her, especially her children and grandchildren.
Surviving includes her children, Sherry Lane of Four Oaks, Sharon Lane of Delaware, Rhonda Gregory and husband, Kenney of the home, Ron Parrish and wife Kay of Youngsville, Jeff Ivey of Garner, Andy Smith, and Michael Leonard Sr. of Murfreesboro, T.N.; sister, Peggy Williams of Goldsboro; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prayer Baptist Church at 300 W. Riddick St. Benson , NC 27504.
