Sandra "Sandy" Kay Jayne, age 80, of Laceyville, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, October 7, 2025 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.

Born in Meshoppen, PA on June 17, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Boyce and Berneta Beeman Carter. Growing up in the Meshoppen area, Sandy attended Elk Lake High School and graduate with the class of 1963.

After high school, Sandy found employment as a Presser, working for several of the area's dress factories. In her free time, she enjoyed tending to her plants and flower beds in and around the house. She was also well known for gifting hand towels and was a devoted member of the Transue Community Church, where she taught Sunday School and attended various Bible study groups.

Sandy is survived by her son, Derrick Jayne (Juanita) of Meshoppen, PA; her siblings, Linda Hackett and Brenda Lagozo; her half-sister, Connie Evans, her step-granddaughters, Morgan Salsman of Lynn, PA and Daniele Salsman of Pittston, PA; and her step-great-grandchildren, Nallah, Dominic, and Camila.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband whom she married on June 3, 1967, William "Bill" L. Jayne (d. January 13, 2013) her brother, Nelson Royce Carter (d. July 2, 2024); her half-brother, Denny Carter (d. Aug. 4, 2015).

A Funeral Service for Sandy will be held at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Charles Bishop of the Transue and Elk Lake Community Churches officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment and graveside service will take place at the Beaver Meadows cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandy's name to the Transue Community Church, C/O Sharon Wood, 4949 SR 367, Laceyville, PA 18623.
