Sandra Marie Johns, United States Air Force Veteran, entered eternal life with our Lord Jesus Christ at home surrounded by love on October 27, 2025. She was 74.
Born on July 18, 1951, in Manning, South Carolina. She was the first born of nine other siblings. She graduated from Summerville High School on June 5, 1970. She went on to complete Rice Business College in 1971 to later work for a legal firm as a Secretary. In 1973, she joined the Air Force as a teletypist with an honorable discharge in 1977.
She later moved to Brunswick, GA, becoming a security guard for seapak around 1981. She married Vernon Johns Sr in a small ceremony and had her only daughter, April, in 1982.
Later she purchased properties and became a landlord while she was a stay at home mother. She was a very hands on traditional mother you could ever ask for. Making every holiday special.
She was the secretary for her daughter's business in 2009 making sure it always ran smoothly.
She then went on to move to Virginia with her son-in-law and daughter. She would do whatever she could for them. Moving all around on active duty. To finally become a resident of Pennsylvania where she attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
A mother, friend, and sister she was most known to be the kindest, brightest, funniest, and strongest person. She was such a joy--even 'til the very end.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Johns Sr; son-in-law, Timothy D Johnson; grandmother, Fannie Hodge; grandfather, Winter Hodge; her parents, Charles and Myrtle Hodge; brothers Richard Hodge, Steven Hodge; and sister, Marlene Adams.
She is survived by her daughter, April Johnson; brothers, David Hodge, Charlie Hodge, and Jerry Hodge; sisters, Melba Knight, Susan McNabb, and Denise Brier; and several nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed.
A Mass of the Christian burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church Parish Hall.
