Sandra Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium on Mar. 19, 2026.
Sandra Lee Johnson, 84, of Rockton, IL, was born on November 26, 1941 in Newburgh, NY, the daughter of Dr. Robert and Elizabeth (McClintock) Jamieson. She died on Monday, March 16, 2026 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

Sandy graduated from Newburgh schools, held secretarial jobs, married Howard S. Rothe and moved to Beloit, WI in 1962. While Howard was with the Beloit Corporation, the family relocated to Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1973 and returned to Beloit in 1977. She worked as the first secretary of the then Beloit Brewers Minor League Baseball team, was the director of the Beloit Senior Citizens Center - Grinnell Hall and as a nursing assistant for Beloit Regional Hospice for about eight years. She was devoted to her volunteer work – over 35 years with Hospice, over 30 years with the Beloit Health System and Beloit Meals on Wheels.

Sandy and Howard share a tremendous pride in their children: Brian D. Rothe (Pam) of Sandia Park, NM, Gary J. Rothe (Bonnie) of Stuart, FL; grandchildren: Lynae E. Titus (Andrew), Aaron T. Rothe (Sahian); great granddaughters: Addie Marie Rothe, Selah Grace Rothe, and Layla Rose Titus all of CO. She is also survived by nieces and husband Norm Johnson (Rockton).

Predeceased are her parents, sister (Nancy Taylor), brother (Bruce Jamieson) and nephews Jim and John Taylor.

She married Norman D. Johnson in 1987 and they moved to Rockton, IL, in 2007. Her heart and dedication remained in Beloit.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Memorials in Sandy's name may be made to the charity of your choice.

She also wanted to share the following:

"I could have been kinder, it's easy to see. I could have made time for just you and me. I've learned a lesson I'll share if I may: there are no second chances to make good use of today. Go to your loved ones, tell them you care. Don't be put off, they won't always be there. It may not be easy, it may not seem right but I guarantee you'll sleep much better tonight." Author unknown

So, put down those Smartphones, iPads, and other devices – go to your family and friends and tell them you care. Surprise them with a hug! Be a trend setter – start talking to one another again. It may confuse them, but I guarantee it will make their day … and yours.
