SANDRA MAXEY Obituary
Mrs. Sandra Maxey was born January 26, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the daughter of Bennie Battles and Ernestine Wooten Battles. Having received her primary and secondary education in the Indianapolis Public School System, she graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in the Class of 1961. Sandra went on to further her education and completed one year of college.
Sandra was baptized in accordance with the Holy Rites of the Roman Catholic Church. She selected St. Joan of Arc as her home parish. There she enjoyed the comradery and friendship of her fellow parishioners.
Sandra embarked upon a career with the United States Postal Service which spanned over forty years. She was also a member of the American Postal Workers Union, Clerk Division. Sandra cultivated and maintained relationships with her co-workers, and she was both well-liked and respected.
In her retirement years, she enjoyed visiting the casinos. She liked to have fun, and it was truly a joy to be in her presence.
Sandra L. Maxey departed this earthly life November 24, 2023, at the age of eighty years nine months and twenty-five days. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Maxey Wright.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son-in-law, Clarence Wright; grandchildren, Damon, Blair, Cameron and Eden; dear friends, Doris Shaw and her husband, Alexis Armstrong and Mary Carter, other relatives, church family and friends.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
Psalm 121
