Sandra Gayle Mickan

Sandra Gayle (Stephens) Mickan- lovingly known as Honey- passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, in Wimberley, Texas at the age of 78. Sandra was born in Waco, Texas to Dawson H. and Mamie Kathryn (Hurst) Stephens on October 15, 1943.
Sandra enjoyed trick water skiing on Lake Whitney with her sister, Patsy, while in their teens. She was a cheerleader and graduate of Connally High School in Waco and went on to study Home Economics at Sam Houston University.
While working at Hygeia in Corpus Christi, Texas, Sandra met her husband, Robert Mickan. Sandra and Robert were married on August 31, 1974, spending forty-two loving years together. They later relocated to Austin, Texas where Sandra worked for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board until her retirement after 25 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Patsy Jean Perot and Kathy Renee Stephens, husband Robert Mickan and grandson Christopher Mickan. Surviving her are two sons, Ron (Janice) and Rick (Sherrie); grandchildren Jeff Mickan (Kristi), Travis Mickan, Marriah Lance (Mike), Dakota Mickan, and Alexandria Mickan; seven great-grandchildren; godson Justin Thomas; Aunt Helen Hurst; sister-in-law and partner in crime Lois Mickan; sisters-in-law Judy Thomas (Jimmy) and Joyce Rice (Bob); brother-in-law Roger Mickan (Kathi); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with the funeral service at 10:00 am at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas.
Interment will follow at Onion Creek Memorial in San Leanna (Manchaca), Texas.
