Sandra Kay Jones O’Neal, age 81, of New Bern, NC passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, at CarolinaEast Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family.
A member of Spring Garden Baptist Church, Sandra’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found joy not only in attending her home church but also in worshipping with other congregations whenever she could. Her heart was wide open to others, and her life reflected her love for God, family, and community.
Sandra was a woman who truly lived life to the fullest. Her laughter, warmth, and nurturing spirit were a light to all who knew her. She had an undeniable passion for life – whether enjoying a peaceful day at the beach, browsing her favorite stores, or delighting in a meal at Chick-fil-A, her joy was infectious. She never met a stranger and always made people feel like family.
Her love for animals was deeply rooted, and throughout her life, she opened her heart and home not only to pets, but also to children in need – fostering three children and offering them comfort, stability and unconditional love.
Above all, Sandra was devoted to her family. She was a proud and loving mother to her daughter and two sons, and nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her grandchildren. Her eves would sparkle when speaking of them, and she cherished every moment shared, Her legacy of love and strength will live on in their hearts forever.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Grace Jones, her brothers, Charles Ray Jones and Bobby Gray Jones, and a grandson, Michael Craig O'Neal.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Angela Walker (Norwood), sons, Craig O’Neal and Joshua Tripp; and four grandchildren, Jesse Walker (Jessica), Aubrie Ashlyn Walker, Natalie Tripp, and Aiden Tripp.
A funeral service to celebrate Sandra’s life will take place on Thursday, July 24th at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel. Sandra will be interred privately in Barnett Cemetery, Hobucken.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home.
As an expression of sympathy, the family kindly asks that donations be made to any animal rescue organization in Sandra’s honor – a tribute befitting her lifelong passion and care for all living creatures.
