Sandra "Sandy" Sandman

Sandra "Sandy" Sandman, 78 of Connersville passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025. She was born on June 24, 1947 in Berea, Kentucky to Ralph McHenry and Velma Isaacs McHenry.

On July 9, 1979, she married James Sandman. They were able to spend 39 years together before he passed away on August 7, 2018.

At the age of 46 Sandy returned to college to become an LPN. She worked at Caroleton Manor for several years before retiring.

Sandy was a very talented and creative person. She loved to sew, paint, travel, go fishing and go camping. She especially loved her 2 cats, Kaiser and Lizzie. She was a beloved daughter, mother, sister and grandmother.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Spivey; stepdaughter, Jamie Beck and stepson, James Sandman; her sisters, Shannon (David Counceller) McHenry and Fern (Lowell Scott) McHenry; her grandchildren, Stephen (Allison) Blanton and Amanda (Cristian) Womack; her great grandchildren, Wyatt, Jaylee, Maci, Eisley, Arilyn and Sylvie; and 4 step grandchildren.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; 2 sisters, Brenda Houghland and Barbara Hobbs and a brother, Ralph McHenry Jr.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W. 8th St., Connersville. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Billups officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
