In Loving Memory of
Sandra L. Scott
February 9, 1945 – July 6, 2025
Sandra "Sandy" L. Scott of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 6, 2025. Born February 9, 1945, Sandy brought kindness, creativity, and strength to each chapter of her life. A graduate of Port Jervis High School, Sandy studied at the Beauty School of Middletown and later founded Sandy's Beauty Shop on Fowler Street in Port Jervis. For years the shop was more than a business, it was a gathering place where clients became friends. Her talent and hospitality left a lasting impact. Sandy's work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit were evident from a young age when she often worked at her parents' business, Kay's Lunch, a family restaurant in Port Jervis.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend, Sandy shared 47 years of marriage with her beloved late husband, Thomas Scott. She was a proud and adoring mother to her sons, Christopher and Patrick, who were the lights of her life. A parishioner at St. Joseph's in Matamoras, Sandy's Catholic faith guided and comforted her through the years. Always concerned for others, Sandy often served as a dedicated caregiver for family and friends. She enjoyed cruise vacations, which allowed her to spend quality time with loved ones.
Sandy was predeceased by her husband, Thomas "Scotty"; her son, Patrick; her parents, LeGrande "Bucky" and Carolyn "Kay" Leicht of Port Jervis; and her brother, Kenneth Leicht.
She is survived by a loving family: her son, Christopher Scott of Matamoras, brother William Leicht and his wife, Carol, of Scottsdale, AZ; nieces Dianne Roberson (Kevin) and Michelle Rothwell (Daniel); nephews Erik and Andrew Leicht; sister-in-law Eva Leicht of Matamoras; niece Eva Barina (Peter), brother-in-law William Scott (Cheryl) of Dayton, OH; nieces Kelly Hoffmann (Trevor) and Kari Abitbol (Alan); sister-in-law Rosanne Leibhart (Charles) of Wilmington, DE; and niece Crystal Leibhart. She also leaves behind great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, including her close cousin Jean Megargle. Her lifelong friend Roberta "Bootsie" Heckman and the entire Heckman family shared a bond of enduring friendship and love with Sandy.
Sandy's gentle heart, helping hand, and unwavering love for those around her will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the lives she touched. Those wishing to honor Sandy's legacy may consider a memorial donation in her name to one of these organizations:
