Sandra Jean Sturgeon

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sandra Jean Bopp Sturgeon peacefully and quietly, with her daughters Rebecca and Suzanne, holding her hands and with her at her side, her son-in-law Jeff, and granddaughter Katelyn, took her last breath January 23, 2026.

Sandra, nicknamed Sunny by her mother, was born September 13, 1937, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Oliver Koeneke Bopp and Delilah Isabelle Thompson Bopp, who passed when Sunny was a baby. Sunny grew up in a loving and nurturing environment, raised by family and close friends who loved Sunny as their own. She learned and loved to garden, can and sew. In her youth, she worked at the theatre with her best friend Marilyn.

On June 17, 1957, she married Joe Kenneth Sturgeon. Through their marriage, they added 6 children to their family. Bret Sturgeon, Lisa Cuellar (Joe), Suzanne Hutchinson (Jeff), Rebecca Powell, Bryan Sturgeon (Beth), and Bryce (Amy). She had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sunny loved her family with her whole heart, loving and serving them.

Sunny and Joe loved going for drives to the mountains to see the beautiful scenery and world around her. She was always happy spending time with and talking with her children. She was very proud of her children. Sunny loved reading, sewing, puzzles, painting ceramics, and crafting, which brought her a lot of joy as she loved being creative. She did ceramics with a very dear friend Leah Mashek at her ceramic shop, painting Christmas gifts for her children. Sunny passed on her love of reading to her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing seamstress sewing clothes for her family and dance costumes for her kids and others to help pay for dance lessons. She loved history and learning new things and she was a very smart and intelligent lady. Sunny had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. To bring in extra income Sunny did ironing and bookkeeping, working many places including Hudson Shoes in Twin Falls, a job she really loved. She also worked at Hallmark and collected Hallmark ornaments and gifted her children hallmark ornaments every year. Sunny loved Christmas, it brought so much joy to her decorating her home for Christmas and inviting others over to enjoy the Christmas spirit.

Sunny was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Sunny was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; and her son, Bryan.

Sunny was loved by all her knew her and will be deeply missed.

A small informal service to celebrate Sunny’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 30, 2026, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome. Burial will conclude at the Elmwood Cemetery, Gooding, Idaho.
