Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kepner Funeral Home - South Wheeling on Jan. 12, 2026.
Sandra (Sandy) Templin passed away suddenly and for reasons unknown January 7th. Our family lost a beloved cousin that day who will always be remembered. Preceded in death by her parents Louis and Amelia Templin of Wetzel Street in South Wheeling. A graduate of Saint Joseph Academy and a life-long member of Sodality and the Saint Ladislaus Catholic Church. As a resident of Wheeling, Sandra worked as a high-end fashion model for the Hub Department Store. While working, she volunteered for years making Pierogies for the Ukrainian Church as well as keeping the I.O.L.A. club supplied. In addition to her volunteer work with the church, Sandra baked wedding cakes and desserts for the Battered Women Shelter at the YWCA. When her mind turned to business, Sandra took a job at "3M Company". There she worked, being promoted and transferred, moving from city to state until finally becoming Department Manager at the Minnesota branch where she retired. After her retirement she moved back to Wheeling to care from her beloved mother Ameila until her passing.
Sandy was an avid traveler touring several countries with groups, family, and alone. She was game for anything, could be packed in minutes, and always had a current passport in hand and ready. In addition to her quiet cavalier attitude towards life, she was many other things. A talented artist working in mediums of glass, slate, clay, ceramic, oil and acrylic paints. A member of the local Mound Weavers Guild, West Virginia Basketmakers Association, and the North Central West Virginia Basket Weavers Guild, she continued to further her education. A skillful basket weaver universally liked for her work, it has been acquired by collectors, custom designed and sold for gifts and proudly displayed by family. As a chocolatier and confectioner, she was there making something incredible for each and every holiday or special occasion.
Although separated by time and distance, Sandy was not only the family historian, but the glue that bound us all together. Her generosity and love of family transcended that time and the generations. Not one of us can remember when she wasn't in our lives. Whether it was being there with nail polish removal when a little girl desperately needed it before her First Communion, or someone first hand woven Easter Basket. Sandy always did her best to attend family gatherings when possible and would make sure something was sent if she couldn't. She remembered everyone and did what she could without ever asking for anything in return or praise. We will forever be grateful for having you in our lives! A rest well earned Sandy, safe travels my sister, our aunt, our cousin, our friend. You will be thought of and missed often.
In honor of Sandys' wishes, no funeral or memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to your local Humane Society or a
charity of your choice.
