Sandra Vilt Obituary

Sandra Kay Vilt (Drazy), 78, of Bonfield, passed away peacefully at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, on Sunday (Dec. 15, 2024).

"Sandy Kay," or "Kay," as she was known by many, was a wonderful friend and family member to many people.

She was born in Kankakee, the daughter of Claude and Iva (Bertrand) Drazy, on Feb. 10, 1946.

She married Lawrence Vilt on Nov. 4, 1967. They moved to Bonfield, where they enjoyed many wonderful years of marriage together and raised two children. While the kids were growing up, she and Larry were known to have lots of family and friends stopping by most any day to enjoy the pool. She worked several jobs throughout the years, but mostly loved being a wife and mother and living in Bonfield.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Claude and Iva Drazy; her husband, Lawrence Vilt; her brother, Richard McClain; her sister, Madonna Brenyas; and her daughter, Martha Vilt.

Surviving are her son, Guy Vilt; daughter-in-law, Melody Vilt; granddaughter, Taylor Vilt; brother-in-law, Jack Morris; sisters-in-law, Kathy Goers, Jeanne Vilt and Janice McClain; special friends, Larry and Pebbie Kirchner and Bonnie Dunlap; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27. Friends and family can meet at 1 p.m. at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais for the procession.

A celebration of life will be planned for the spring.
