Sandra Scruggs Miller West, 76, of Spartanburg, SC passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025. She was born on November 14, 1949 in Rutherfordton, NC to the late J. D. and Ethel Curtis Scruggs.
Raised in Inman, SC, Sandra graduated from Chapman High School two years early, at the age of 16. She immediately went to work with Bellsouth and was a devoted employee until she retired at the age of 42. After retirement, she took her love of cooking and opened Sandy’s Grill in Spartanburg.
Sandra was a wonderful baker, especially her four-layer pie and lasagna. She was a bright, lively woman who loved dancing to Elvis Presley’s hits, spending time with her “Little Dog”, and caring for her family. The many hearts she touched are only a small reflection of the amazing woman she was.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Miller; grandchildren, Hannah Blackburn, Samantha Hawkins, Jeramy Estep, and Madison Estep; sisters, Brenda “Kay” Bishop and Faye Grigg; nieces, Dawn Grigg Hinson (Shane) and Hope Bishop; and nephews, Brandon Grigg and Chad Bishop. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Kenneth Scruggs, Buster Scruggs, and James Douglas Scruggs.
Visitation will be 12:00-12:45 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at J. M. Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel, conducted by Rev. Damon Duncan. Entombment in Heritage Memorial Gardens Mausoleum will immediately follow.
In memory of Sandra, contributions may be made to Gibbs Cancer Center Research Fund.
