Sandra Janet Wine, 78
Hospital Phone Operator
Sandra Wine, better known as "Momma Wine" to most EMTs/Paramedics, Police Officers, and Firefighters in Cumberland County, passed away peacefully on the early morning of Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, at the beautiful Samartian Center for Hospice in Voorhees, NJ.
Born June 7th, 1947 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and resided in the City of Millville since 1982.
Sandra previously worked at Texaco Canada as a receptionist, and then National Trust Bank as a teller. She met her husband Richard while he was on leave from Fort Drum, and came to the United States, having her son Peter, and proudly became a fully immigrated United States Citizen in the mid 90's. She became another mother figure to so many EMTs and Firefighters in the area to which she entertained them with her Canadian accent. Her career was with South Jersey Health Systems, where she started as a cook, and became a hospital telephone operator for Millville, Bridgeton, and Newcomb Hospitals. She was the last person to officially say at Millville Hospital, "Visiting hours are now over." Before its final closure.
Sandra enjoyed TV, Hockey, Youtube, Facebook, curling up with her dog, Gadget. She enjoyed music and was proud to say she shared a joint with Bob Dylan one crazy night.
Survivors include her son Peter Wine, and April Beebe (Daughter Addy), who took care of her until the end. Her sister Patricia Stackhouse, of Brockville, Ontario, her brother Peter Simpson and wife Linda of St. Thomas, Ontario. She is survived by so many loving nieces and nephews and was overjoyed to hear that our family is growing day by day. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter Simpson and Florence Ida (nee Frampton). Her husband Richard. Her brothers Bill Simpson, Donald Simpson, and sister in laws, Beverly Simpson, and Rusty Simpson, and her brother in law Russell Stackhouse.
A service will not be held locally. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Veteran's Multi-Service Center, 616 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland NJ 08360.
She'll never be forgotten, eh?
Memories of Sandra and condolences to her family may be shared on her tribute wall.

Peter, we are so very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. We loved her. From the days working with her at Millville Hospital and the times we played cards and how she loved to yell " Full Hoohse, I win"! She was a lovely person, always, smiling. Sending love and prayers Barbara Salva and Tammi (Salva) Cooper
