He is survived by a nephew Shiva P. Haran of Bellerose, New York.
Traditional Hindu services will be held on Wednesday Nov. 10, 2021 at 12:00noon at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc. 23 N. 9th.St.Stroudsburg, Pa. 18360 The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of the services at the funeral home.

My self and my son shocked to hear the sudden demise of Dr. Shastry. When I think of him, verse six in chapter 15 of Bhagavad Gita comes to mind:
"My supreme Divine abode is not illuminated by the material sun, moon or fire.
A soul who reaches that Divine abode does not return to this mundane world."

I will carry with me always fond memories of times spent with Sankar in the 20 years that I knew him. We shared many a home cooked meal and lively conversation at his cow sanctuary. He was an intelligent and caring man and his loss will be felt deeply among those who knew him well. I am very grateful to have had him as a close friend for 1/3 of my life. I wish you a peaceful journey into eternity, dear Sankar and I offer my deepest condolences to everyone who feels his loss.
