Santiago Montez Jr.

Santiago Montez, Jr., beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend was called home
to the Lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Surrounded by loved ones, he passed
away peacefully at the age of 80 in his hometown of San Antonio, TX. Born on
November 17, 1945, Santiago lived a full life marked by hard work, devotion to his
family, and a quiet appreciation of life's simple pleasures.
Santiago was a proud graduate of Edgewood High School, where he met the love of his
life, Maria. Their love story began in the halls of their alma mater and led to a profound
60-year marriage that provided the cornerstone for their family. He was known for his
love of fishing, and he was an avid fan of western movies and the Dallas Cowboys. He
enjoyed attending family sporting events and watching his great-grandchildren grow. His
legacy is one of resilience and unwavering presence for those he loved.
Santiago was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Maria Montez; children,
Santiago Montez, Valerie Montez Hernandez, and Jerry Montez; grandson, Moses
Hernandez, Jr.; parents, Santiago Montez and Catarina Torres; and brothers, Vicente
Montez and Vidal Montez.
He is remembered by his daughter, Eva Morales; son-in-law, Moses Hernandez, Sr.;
siblings, Daniel Montez, Josefina Martinez, and Mary Cardoza; grandchildren, Dawn
Morales, Melanie Morales, Jerry Montez, Jr., Joshua Montez, Traci Montez, Jordan
Montez, John David Hernandez, Jodi Montez, Jaclyn Montez, Kristen Morales, and
Megan Hernandez;17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and loved
ones. Services are as follows:

4p.m.-8p.m.- Visitation to be held at Texas Funeral Home, 2702 Castroville Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237. With a rosary to be recited at 6:30p.m. from Deacon Albert Ramirez.
