Santo John Coco, 98, passed away Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 at Moravian Manor in Lititz. He was the loving husband of Sara (Elmo) Coco, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage before her passing in 2008.
Born in Reading, John was the eldest child of the late Salvatore and Nancy Coco. After graduating St. Peter's High School, he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany just after WWII ended, serving in the military post office. He worked as a textile machinist for many years, and retired from Arrow International as an inspector in 1988. The family home in South Reading, which he remodeled room by room, was a great source of pride. John also enjoyed gardening, traveling with his wife, Sara, and documenting their vacations in photographs.
Left to treasure his memory are his son, John Coco, of Reading; daughters, Nancy, wife of Sidney Hurst, Lititz and Debra, wife of Robert Finger, Hershey; grandchildren, James Finger and Sarah Gette (Benjamin). He is also survived by his sister, Lucy of Macon, GA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara; brothers, Anthony and Benjamin Coco; and sisters: Helen June and Mary Marcano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 10:00 am in St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 322 S 5th St, Reading, PA, 19602. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church from 9:00 am until the time of Mass. Entombment will follow in Gethsemane's Chapel of Resurrection in Laureldale.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter the Apostle at the address above.
