Sara Martha Bates, 90 of Waleska, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Rock Creek Manor in Jasper, Georgia.

Sara was born on September 16, 1935, in Macon, Georgia to the late Floyd Blair and the late Annie Williams Blair. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James H. Bates; as well as their daughter, Nadine Bates Booher.

She was a creative and joyful soul who found happiness in the simple things she loved most-sewing, crafting, and singing. With every stitch and handmade creation, she poured love and care into the lives of those around her. Her voice, whether lifted in song or laughter, brought warmth and comfort to family and friends alike. Sara's gentle spirit, creativity, and love for life will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael Bates (Kimmie) of Waleska, GA; son-in-law, Charles Booher of Williamson, GA; grandsons, Michael Anthony Bates (Shannon) of Elijay, GA, Robert Jason Bates (Tabatha) of Canton, GA, Joshua Booher of Nashville, TN, Jeremiha Booher of Griffin, GA; granddaughters, Christy Bates Gould (Dave) of Milton, GA, Jessica McCloud (Alex) of Senoia, GA, and Becky Banks (Wesley) of Acworth, GA; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be Friday, September 19, 2025, from 1:30 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel with Pastor Buster Dockins and Pastor George Grey officiating. Interment will follow the service in Westwood Gardens.
