Mrs. Sara Weatherly Driggers passed away on October 28, 2025. She was born in Marlboro County on March 24, 1934, a daughter of James Howard Weatherly, Sr and Emma Williams Weatherly.
She will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife to Martin L Driggers, Jr of 66 years, a loving mother, and treasured grand-mother, and great grandmother, affectionately called Nannie. Her love and legacy will live on in the family she so deeply loved. She especially loved family get-togethers and trips to Myrtle Beach. Many memories were made and pictures taken. She was a faithful friend to so many and enjoyed sending cards and letters of comfort, celebration and encouragement. She especially enjoyed talking on the phone. She loved community theatre and was involved in a number of plays. She loved Angels and had collected many throughout the years. She loved playing games, especially Solitaire and Sudoku, and doing puzzles. She loved chocolate, milkshakes and Starbucks Decaf White Chocolate Mocha Lattes. She was a woman of prayer and had a strong faith and deep relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her favorite Bible Verse was Psalm 118:24, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."
She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. She loved God's word and her church family which helped grow her faith and shaped her life.
She was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the piano, keyboard, and singing. As a teenager, she had a program on the local radio station, WBSC, called "Sara Sings" and took requests. She graduated Valedictorian from McColl High School in 1952. She worked part-time as a bookkeeper and loved numbers.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, Sons: Randy Driggers (Susan), Kem W Driggers, Twin Daughters:
Sarah Wagler (Rob), Frances Ortlip (Dan) Grandchildren: Jim Driggers (Tiffany), Jenny Bridgman (Alex),
Emma Chapman (Ben), Nathan Wagler (Katy), Joshua Ortlip (Tessa), Matthew Ortlip and Ashley Ortlip.
Great grandchildren: Lydian Bridgman, Izabella Wagler, Arlynn Driggers, Everley Driggers, Rosalie Ortlip, Theodore Wagler, and Daphne Ortlip. Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
In addition to her parents listed above, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Martin L Driggers, Jr, a brother, three sisters and three infant siblings.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, Bennettsville, SC on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 2pm with visitation at 1pm prior to service and a graveside burial service to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
